Austin Powers is an amazing movie serious and The Spy who Shagged me was the only part of the trilogy that I had never seen making it quite appropriate for this weeks(last weeks since I am late posting) 52 week movie challenge movies.
Out of all honesty, all these movies are pretty solid but I enjoyed this one and Goldmember a lot more than the first one. I think that since they created that fondation with the first one that it allowed them to play around a little more with these other two movies making them way more funny and entertaining.
I love that this movie takes place not only in the 90s but also in the 60s. They really take all the stereotypical things from both these areas and bring them to life. An example is how they make Scotty act and look. He has the long baggy pants, spiked hair and black painted fingernails; what more could you ask for from a teen in the 90s. And then in the other era, the 60s, there are go go dancers, bright colors everywhere and they even add in music by The Monkees and The Who for that real 60s effect.
This is also the first time we are introduced to the one and only Mini Me. I knew about Mini Me but it is still just so damn funny!
The idea that Mike Myers played not 1, not 2 but 3 people in this movie is hilarious. It is always really funny to see how much the actor can change for each roll especially in a movie like this were all the rolls are so different.
Overall I liked this movie because it was funny but still had a good plotline to it. The acting was good and all the effects were smashing; I would give it a 8/10. All the Austin Powers movies are on netflix so if you haven’t seen them go watch them and get caught up with the times!
