The Anything and Everything Monthly Newsletter

As I sit in my apartment on this sunny Minnesota morning, I am super excited to break down my last month with you guys. I have officially started classes at my University and I have been writing a bunch of crap already about stuff that is boring so being able to hop onto my blog and write the way I want about the things I want to write about is an absolute blessing. If you guys have been with me for awhile, you will know that last year’s college life was a living hell where as thing year, although I have only been here for a week, I am already having fun and just feel good about the year ahead of me. What I watched over the last month that you SHOULDN’T be watching

  • The Big Chill

This movie was all kinds of weird. One of the theaters in our area does a secret movie every month and this was the movie for the month of August. When they introduced the movie, the host stated that, “This movie brings people together and is a movie we all need right now as we are slowly start to get back to normal life.” The first half and hour really expressed that theme and it started out SUPER wholesome…then like the second Jeff Goldblum got horney, everyone got horney and started snorting cocain and they still played it off as this feel-good friendship movie. It was disappointing how weird and bad this movie was because the cast was great and they all did great and the soundtrack is honestly one for the books! There is not a single song on the soundtrack that isn’t good and I really appreciated that…I just wanted a better movie.

  • Kill Bill Pt. 1

I know I am gonna get a lot of shit for this but I did not think this movie was that good. I enjoyed the way the film looked and I actually enjoyed the whole idea of the story but I just found it so slow and boring! I really like Quentin Tarantino work but this one just didn’t do it for me. In short, the film had spirit and it’s heart was in the right place but it didn’t translate to a movie that I liked.

  • Freaky

Freaky was one of the first movies to come out in theaters after the big swing of the pandemic ended and it couldn’t have been more dissippinting. Out of all the movies in this section, this one was the best but it lacked a lot of stuff. The idea was there (a teen girl and a serial killer end up switching bodies), the cast was there but just as I found with Kill Bill, it was not exciting and was kinda stupid. There were a few parts were I laughed but it was just really average. The characters were really simple too which was a bummer. Vince Vaughn’s original character of the serial killer has NO personality traits other than he kills people so when him and the girl switch bodies, she just walks around all creepy and that is it. There could have been just a little something in the killers personally that made him more exciting but instead the only trait they gave him was that he killed people and that was lame. Not the worst but by no means the best either.

  • I WENT TO THE FREAKING HELLA MEGA TOUR ON AUGUST 23 IN MINNEAPOLIS, MINNESOTA AND IT CHANGED MY LIFE! I might write a post about this someday but I’ll share it here first! This was honestly a dream come true; I am huge Weezer and Green Day fan so having them both perform in one spot was just amazing. Fall Out Boy was there too I guess but they were a little lame — they had a lot of pyrotechnics and like videos playing so when they played their music they just like went up, did it and left. Just getting to go to a concert was the big thing though. The last year has not been easy on anyone and by getting to go to this show I just got this sense that everything is going to be okay and there is sunshine ready to take over the clouded skies. It was just the freaking best thing ever and I got to go with three wonderful ladies (Tammersnacks, Autumn and Nancy with a Z this one’s for you) and it changed my life.

Answer from last week: The Joker

“What! Over? Did you say ‘over?’ Nothing is over until we decide it is! Was it over when the Germans bombed Pearl Harbor? HELL NO!”
