Reaven Q and A

Reaven is an open ranged, French Pop/Rock band that creates music anywhere, “From heavy rock to very acoustic and unplugged songs.” They also happen to be the featured band on this week’s Q and A!

Before the creation of Reaven, lead singer/guitarist, Romeo, and drummer/back-up vocalist, Vince, started to play together — they were both 14-years-old when they started creating music with one another. Later on in life, they ended up meeting their bassist, Rudy, and their keyboardist, André in Paris — they have been performing under the name Reaven since 2017.

Q: How did you guys come up with the name of your band? If you could go back and do it again, would you change it or keep it as is?

A: “It took quite a long time to find our name. We were looking for a name that sounded english but without any particular meaning.

“Reaven is the mix of the word “Rêve” in French (meaning dream in English) and Heaven in English (a place where all musicians go when they’re on stage!) — and you have to pronounce it Ree-ven. And no we wouldn’t change it!”

Q: Did you always plan on being musicians; if you weren’t playing music what would you be doing?

A: “I [Romeo], always knew I wanted to be a musician… I think the first time I thought of that, I was 8 years old. If I wasn’t playing music, I would be writing a book, or creating companies. Something related to creativity and being your own boss.”

Q: How would you describe life on the road as a musician?

A: “It’s a very particular life — very intense, but also very special. I mean, you’re moving from one town to another almost everyday, you’re always on the move and at the same time after a show, you’re in your hotel room alone.

“But you meet so many people and live so many things that it’s maybe the thing I love the most on earth; traveling and playing music.”

Q: Lots of people are getting into Podcasts and listening to less music; do you think music holds something stronger that you would never get from a podcast?

A: “I think people just don’t take the time anymore for nothing — we’re [living] in a world where holding more than 30 seconds on a video or anything else is complicated. But I do think that music will always have an audience since it’s maybe one of the only things in the world that [still] brings people together.”

Q: What is one of your songs that has extreme meaning behind it; what is that meaning and why is it so important?

A: “I could name a few of them, but a recent one could be the one on our EP, (Be)For Tomorrow, called Ordinary Heroes. It talks about the fact that we live in a world where we always “show” things instead of living them, that we get superficial, and that the real heroes are not those that you see. It talks about being authentic.”

Q: What is one of your songs that has no meaning and was written strictly out of fun or for humor?

A: “I think it could be [any] songs [I wrote] when I was between 11 to 15 years old!!”

Q: If Reaven could tour with any artist, big or small, who would you want to tour with?

A: “Paul McCartney, Muse or Coldplay.”

Q: Are there any updates and upcoming announcements for Reaven (new Ep, new music, etc…)?

A: “We’re about to release a new EP called (Be)For Tomorrow — it’s a prequel to our (already finished) album For Tomorrow. Since we were not able to defend the album on stage because of the worldwide situation, we wanted to give our audience something [while they] wait and so came the idea of an EP.

“You’ll find three already released singles, two unpublished tracks from the next album AND three bonus Live unplugged tracks from our last filmed acoustic show [on the EP]. We’re trying to reschedule our third European tour & first US tour + Central / Latin America.

“A new music video is about to be filmed and we keep on recording new tracks
and singles as much as we can!!”

Q: Is there anything else you want the world to know about Reaven?

A: “Take a few minutes to discover our music!! We would be happy to count you in our Reaven’s family!!”

Go check out (Be) For Tomorrow which is out now (it came out on July 3 2021) and can be found anywhere you get your music fix!
