Okay so I didn’t necessarily hate this movie when I saw it, but I thought it was slow. Like I respect this movie because Kevin Smith is a God and he only had $27,575 to make this movie and it is considered a classic, but compared to some of Smith’s other movies, this just wasn’t my favorite. A family friend of mine said that I needed to wait to watch it again because eventually, I will get it and think it is the greatest movie of all times.

So I did definitely liked this movie a lot more this time around. It is a pretty great movie gonna be honest. I really liked how the plot was kinda all over the place but then at the end everything came together like the old guy in the bathroom and the way the Dante got caught selling the cigarettes to the 4 year old girl. I also like that there are a bunch of on going jokes that keep getting brought up like, “I wasn’t even supposed to be here today”, “Can I buy a pack of cigarettes?”, and  “Are you open?”

I really loved that this was in black and white. I know that it was like a budget thing because Kevin Smith was thought of as a joke and couldn’t get any money, but this worked in his favor. In color I think that the magic would be taken away and it wouldn’t have been as good. There was also some great monologues in this movie and I really liked that. This movie was acually super well written all together. Best line: “You know, there’s a million fine looking women in the world, dude. But they don’t all bring you lasagna at work. Most of ’em just cheat on you”. For it being Smith’s first movie it did leave a great legacy for his movies to come.

For characters, I think Dante was a total ass! He was okay at the start and then was just so involved with himself that nothing else around him really mattered. The way that he treated Veronica compared to Kaytlin was just sick. He was such an ASSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS!!!!!!! Jay and Silent Bob were awesome and to know that Smith wrote this roll specifically for Mewes is amazing and not surprising. Mewes fits this character because…it is his character. One last character I was to talk about is the lady that showed up when they took the dude out of the bathroom(watch the movie and this line will  make a  lot more sense). She must’ve not been like super experienced cuz it sounded like she just kept tripping on her words and was kinda bad at acting as a whole. It really added that homemade feel to the movie and it was pretty funny; I just wanted to bring this up.
Overall I did end up liking this movie a lot better than I did the first time I watched it. When I first saw it I gave it rating of 4/10, but the second time around I am gonna give it a 8/10. It was really good expershally for the time that it was made and the restrictions that Smith was put under when writing and filming it.
